A little glimpse into the other side of life at Chezza’s...

Dogs may be at the heart of Chezza’s, but they certainly aren't the only animals that make life here so special.

Sharing the home are beautiful Registered Anglo-Nubian goats and Barnevelder chickens — both chosen for their wonderful qualities and both playing their own part in everyday life, including the feeding and rearing of the dogs and puppies.

The Anglo-Nubians

The Anglo-Nubian is a striking and distinctive British breed, instantly recognisable

 by those wonderful long ears and characteristic Roman nose.

Elegant, intelligent, inquisitive and incredibly full of personality, they are a 

breed that is very easy to fall in love with.

They are also renowned as dairy goats, producing beautifully rich and creamy 

milk with a naturally high butterfat content.

This is where Andy comes in!

Andy takes charge of milking the girls using a milking machine, providing 

beautiful fresh goat's milk every day.

All of the fresh milk is fed daily to the dogs and puppies as part of their varied diet. Any surplus is carefully frozen, meaning this lovely home-produced milk can 

be stored and used when needed — particularly during puppy rearing.

Nothing goes to waste.

The Barnevelders

Then come the Barnevelder chickens, another beautiful traditional breed.

Originating in the Netherlands, Barnevelders are particularly admired for their 

striking feathering and lovely rich brown eggs.

Calm, attractive and full of character, 

And those eggs certainly don't go to waste!

Andy scrambles the freshly laid eggs with the Anglo-Nubian goat's milk for the dogs and puppies — and they absolutely love it!

The fresh eggs and rich goat's milk provide a nutritious addition to their normal 

balanced diet, with the added satisfaction of knowing exactly where everything has come from.

From the Yard to the Bowl

It is a lovely little circle of life at Chezza’s.

The goats provide the milk.
The chickens provide the eggs.
Andy does the milking and cooking.
And the dogs happily take care of the rest!

Different animals, different breeds and very different personalities — but all cared for with the same love, attention and respect.
